Kathleen Tan, Regional Head of Commercial said: “AirAsia is committed to connecting people and the new addition of Miri to Singapore route as well as increased frequencies to Singapore reiterates that commitment. We believe that the introduction of this new route will further boost the East Malaysia economy and contribute to a hike in the number of tourist arrivals into East Malaysia.
This route is definitely sustainable as Singapore is an international gateway, as well as AirAsia’s virtual hub with 401 weekly flights from Singapore, while Miri is the second largest city in Sarawak with a significant number of expatriates and international students. With this new route, Malaysia now has six points of connection to Singapore, out of which three are in East Malaysia – Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and now Miri. Guests traveling to and from Singapore will also have added convenience with the increased frequencies from Kuala Lumpur and Penang to Singapore as there are more options on flight timing.”
